Shower & Bath Filters

One half of our daily chlorine exposure is from showering. Chlorine is not only absorbed through the skin, but also re-vaporized in the shower, inhaled into the lungs and transferred directly into the blood system. In fact, the chlorine exposure from ones shower is equal to an entire day's amount of drinking the same water. Drinking filtered water only does some of the job. For people concerned about their health and beauty, the CWR Shower & Bath Tub filters are an affordable solution.

Information on Shower Filter Media

Redox reactions can be chemically complex. Simply stated, during a Redox reaction electrons are transferred between molecules, creating new elements. For instance, when free-chlorine comes in contact with the filtration media, it is changed into a benign, water-soluble chloride. This reaction changes free-chlorine to a larger chloride molecule. This new salt-based molecule requires more energy (heat) to evaporate than a water heater at industry-standard maximum temperatures allows and is too large to be absorbed by the skin. Is it then carried harmlessly through the water supply.

Chlorgon

...is one type of Redox filtration media. Chlorgon coverts free chlorine and some combined chlorines to a harmless chloride to a harmless chloride salt. A proprietary blend of Copper, Zinc and Calcium Sulfide, Chlorgon works well in a variety of temperatures from hot to cold.

TESTING & CERTIFICATIONS

IAPMO is an independent third party laboratory.  The HO2 units are tested for the reduction of free chlorine, in a shower filter system, to ANSI/NSF Standard No. 177

ANSI/NSF NO. 177 establishes minimum certification requirements for shower filters: material safety, structural integrity, minimum flow rate, FAC reduction and literature.  A shower filter is defined as a point-of-use system used for the reduction of substances affecting aesthetic qualities of shower water.

The Shower Filter Reduces:

Free Chlorine-Initially 99% at a flow rate of 2.5 gpm

At the end of the test-25,000 gallons, the Free Chlorine reduction is 50%

Other contaminants reduced- Hydrogen Sulfide, Iron Oxide, dirt, sediment and odors

The temperature of tap water ranges from 60-75 degrees (F).

Showering temperatures typically range from 85-105 degrees (F).

WHY NOT CARBON?

Carbon is a cold water filter. It is most effective at temperature ranges of 50-80 degrees (F).  At higher temperatures, carbon becomes ineffective.  It will "off-load" and release contaminants into the water.  Also, you do no shower in cold water and wouldn't use a 60 lb. shower filter.
